Looking Up from Electronics

Live in harmony with one another.

Romans 12:16a

Screen Shot 2017-12-04 at 4.07.31 PMSitting in the waiting room I looked around. No one was saying a word. Nearly all had their head down, looking at an electronic device.

When I was a little girl I remember Mom chatting with those around her at the doctor’s or dentist’s office, grocery store, DMV, bank… you name it. Rarely does that occur anymore. We are all too busy making a connection with something online (or someone) and not with those around us.

I for one am VERY GUILTY of this!! Just ask my family!

Way before mobile phones became so popular I was on my mine constantly and still am. A habit I know I need to get under control.

Today as I listened to the news on a split screen on my phone and played cribbage I looked over at the lady next to me and told her how cute her capris were. Soon we both put down our devices and had a lovely conversation.

Immediately I noticed  she made a point of letting me know of her love for Jesus. She was not ashamed of loving Jesus Christ. In this day and age I find His name used less and less in this manner and more and more as a curse.

She was so refreshing.

Soon we were chatting about family, church, and our lives.

Today for once I lifted my head, put down my device and made a connection. It was brief, but definitely a pleasure.

I challenge you to try it… Connect in person!
