When we had our pool put in we were told we had to monthly take a sample of water in for testing in order to keep our warranty on the finish. OOPS we forgot last month!!
Yesterday I brought in a sample. With concern, I asked how this was going to affect our warranty.
“No problem, you only had to do that for the first year.”
Well that was good news…the pool is 2 years old.
BUT NOW…are we going to be faithful in having it tested every month from now on? Hope so, but since we don’t have that accountability requirement …will we?
When we don’t have that someone to answer to it is easy to slack off.
With this in mind, I started to think about my own personal accountability. I need my husband, family, and friends to help me to be accountable on all fronts.
Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing. (1 Thessalonians 5:11)
I have changed my diet recently — drastically!
Encouragement is definitely needed. Friends and family can sabotage our new decisions…whether it is eating, drinking, exercising, Bible Study, gathering with Christians, swearing, drugs, alcohol, …the list goes on and on.
If you are struggling with staying steady with a decision to change a behavior find an accountability partner. There is a reason AA has sponsors. The concept works.
You want to start doing daily devotions, find someone you can share what you learned in your time with God. That person can help you stay consistent and you can help them.
Just as chefs sharpen their knives with steel, thus we must sharpen our minds and spirits.
A person who goes the journey of life alone will find themselves sad and dreary, and sluggish. If one engages in conversation with a friend, one will be greatly refreshed…mind sharpened, spirit revived, and encouraged into action.
Go be an iron sharpener!!
