Last night I started a melted crayon painting. I first drew with a pencil an outline of a tree on the canvas.
Then I put a brown crayon inside my glue stick gun and used it to “paint” the tree…okay not the best idea. It looked rather blah.
I built up the trunk with various colored crayons in gun…still not that great.
Outside in the dark I went, using my cellphone as a flashlight I picked small leaves off a bush in our backyard.
My husband could not stand it…what in the world is my wife doing?
From the patio I heard him say, “Isn’t a little late to be doing yardwork?”
Soon I was Mod Podging the leaves…adding them to the branches. Today I added more dimension to the tree using the pine bark mulch we have in our flower beds. Small yellow flowers…a little paint…and voila!
The original tree was flat, without depth. Adding the leaves, bark, and flowers made it more interesting.
We can have a relationship with Christ that is flat, without depth…one dimensional…just like the tree at first. Yes it was a drawing of a tree but it was flat and blah.
Adding leaves to the branches took time and effort but what a difference.
Adding time with God, being in His Word takes time and effort, BUT WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!!
We can have a flat, one dimensional relationship with God, or we can spend time with Him and have the Fruit of the Spirit.
“But what happens when we live God’s way? He brings gifts into our lives, much the same way that fruit appears in an orchard—things like affection for others, exuberance about life, serenity. We develop a willingness to stick with things, a sense of compassion in the heart, and a conviction that a basic holiness permeates things and people. We find ourselves involved in loyal commitments, not needing to force our way in life, able to marshal and direct our energies wisely.”
(Galations 5:22-23 MSG)
WOW!! Good stuff!! Don’t you just love this version?!
Are you living God’s way? If yes, He will bring gifts into your life…no not a new car, not a better job but gifts..fruit of the Spirit…love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.
NOW that is the 3 dimensional life I want. HOW ABOUT YOU?
