…may she who gave you birth be joyful! Proverbs 23:25
I turned just in time to witness 2 precious young children surprise their mother at work with flowers and a Happy Mother’s Day balloon.
Everyone was all smiles.
What a blessing! And what a great idea to make the surprise at the most unexpected time and place!
Being a mother can be challenging, but one of the most rewarding experiences.
Children are a gift from the Lord; they are a reward from Him.~ Psalm 127:3
Life is busy.
Listen to their silly stories.
Snuggle up with them and read to them.
Tell them about your childhood.
Connect with them.
MAKE TIME FOR YOUR CHILDREN
You may never be famous, you many never have your name in lights here on earth, but being a mother is a privilege.
For some it is a daily privilege caring for their children; however, for others motherhood may be a source of pain and sacrifice as it was for Jochebed.
Jochebed? You may ask, “Who in the world is Jochebed???”
She was Moses’ Mom.
Moses became one of the greatest leaders of his time…perhaps the greatest of all times. So proud Jochebed must have been of her son, yet never could she proudly say out loud for the world to hear, “That’s my boy. That’s my son.”
Jochebed knew when Moses was born that her male Hebrew son would be killed by order of the Pharaoh. So she hid him, but Moses became too big to hide from the authorities. She did the only thing she knew to do…she placed in a papyrus basket and set him amongst the reeds of the Nile River. Moses’ sister stood nearby to watch her brother float away.
The pain they must have felt!
Then a miracle! Someone found him.
The Pharaoh’s daughter! She realized he must be one of the Hebrew babies. Easily she could have had him killed, but he touch her heart.
Moses’ sister came to her side and said “Do you want me to go and get a nursing mother from the Hebrews so she can nurse the baby for you?”
Pharaoh’s daughter said, “Yes. Go.” The girl went and called the child’s mother.
Pharaoh’s daughter told her, “Take this baby and nurse him for me. I’ll pay you.” The woman took the child and nursed him.
After the child was weaned, she presented him to Pharaoh’s daughter who adopted him as her son. She named him Moses (Pulled-Out), saying, “I pulled him out of the water.” (Exodus 2:7-10 MSG)
Handing Moses back to the Pharaoh’s daughter must have been so painful for Jochebed.
Can you imagine? Jochebed loved her son so much, she set him free.
God had a plan for Moses. Not at all what his mother expected I am sure.
What special plan does God have for your child(ren)?
Mothers that have given their sons and daughters up for adoption can understand this kind of love.
Mothers of all shapes and sizes experience pain and strife in their role…but I ask you this season, focus on the blessings of motherhood .
The time you have with your children is truly fleeting. ENJOY them. LOVE them.
Thank God for them.
Have a blessed Mother’s Day!
