It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it.~ Aristotle
I say perfect because I do NOT accept another one of his quotes and I feel comfortable in disagreeing with you.
Youth is easily deceived because it is quick to hope. ~ Aristotle
Why do I disagree?
HOPE is NOT a deceiver!
I could not survive without HOPE!
2 By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in HOPE of the glory of God.
3 And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience;
4 And patience, experience; and experience, HOPE:
5 And HOPE maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us. ~ Romans 5:2-5 (KJV)
Why can I have this HOPE?
Because I have been made right in God’s sight.
By my faith.
I have PEACE because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for me.
You too can have this PEACE and HOPE.
I’m sorry, Aristotle, HOPE does not deceive me. It comforts me.
When our youngest son had meningitis and the doctors held no hope…I held HOPE in Christ.
When he was miraculously healed, I was not deceived!!
And when my mother died from breast cancer I was not deceived. I witnessed a miracle. It is called the resurrection.
My faith in Christ gives me HOPE daily.
Isaiah 40:31 tells us…
but those who HOPE in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
Samuel Smiles said:
HOPE is like the sun, which, as we journey towards it, casts the shadow of our burden behind us.
Well said, Mr. Smiles, but I’d like to change it to…
HOPE is the SON, who as we journey towards Him, we gain strength and peace for He carries our burdens.
Today, dear Reader, place your HOPE in Him.
