Merry Christmas

This Christmas Eve evening as we worshiped with our son and his family, my heart was filled with so many emotions.

Thanksgiving for our Savior.

Pure delight I’m sharing this time of worship with our son, his wife and our grandchildren.

Joy to be standing next to my husband singing Christmas Carols.

And great peace in hearing the reading of our blessed Lord’s birth.

But in the midst of these moments my heart ached for days gone by…for the days I had worshipped The Lord with my parents on Christmas Eve.

It’s been 23 years this Christmas season since Mom went to be with The Lord and 11 since Dad joined her.

I had all I could do to control my tears to a minor stream down my cheeks with an occasional shudder. My sweet husband had just the right words to soothe my soul.

And my son later reminded me how blessed I was to know where they are …celebrating Christ’s birthday with the King of Kings.

Merry Christmas, Jesus. Mom and Dad love ice cream with birthday cake. Tell them to save me a piece.

Blessings, Susan

Oh my, Susan… I can sooo relate to this post… I lost my daddy in 1982 & my mom in ’88. Waaaay too soon- I too experience those emotions of great joy but sadness as well. I miss them so much- thank you for sharing your heart this Christmas, my friend. i wish you & your family a much blest & beautiful day of celebration- our Saviour is born!! ((HUGS!!))
