Standing firm in the moment ~ by susan werthem

What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us. ~ R. W. Emerson

Over the past couple of days I have seen this in action. I have witnessed families with serious situations coming down the pike and tragic events that have occurred in the past.

These individuals have been great examples of towers of strength.

They were like a strong oak tree by the riverbed. Past winds had blown off their leaves, stripped their bark, and broken some of their branches, but they still have remained tall.

HOW?

Their inner strength is rooted in their faith in God.tree

Yes, the past can and is painful.

And yes, the future may be also.

But today, it is who we draw our strength from that matters.

It is because of our faith in God that we can move forward and through painful past events.

For those who know the future holds uncertainties that may be excruciating and heart wrenching, it is trusting in Christ that nourishes their inner soul and allows them to be confident in who holds their future.

If your roots are only in the top soil and hope seems like a far distant abstract object, spend time with Christ and allow your life to be deep rooted in His Word.

Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith… Hebrews 12:2a
