My heart is heavy for my dear friend. Her husband went to be with the Lord this weekend. He lost his battle with cancer.
When she called I prayed that I would say the right thing, but words were not sufficient. There really is nothing one can say at a time like this. All I could do was let her know how much I cared.
My prayer today is that God comforts her family as they go through this heartache. I ask you to join me in praying for them.
It is not his death I morn, but their loss. We know that he is with the Lord and that is comforting, for sure…but my heart aches for his wife – my friend – and her family.
And as the weeks progress, I pray that friends do not forget to include her in activities.
If you know of someone that has lost their spouse or a close family or friend…PLEASE remember to keep in touch with them. Prayers are important, but God expects us to put our thoughts and prayers into action.
Invite them over for dinner, call them on the phone, send them an email…do something!!
Many of us shy away from people when they are in this situation, because of OUR insecurities and fears of not knowing what to say. Dear friend, you do not have to say anything…JUST BE THERE!! Show your love and concern through actions.
I thank my God in all my remembrance of you (Philippians 1:3 ESV)
