We had to have our Oak tree removed from the backyard this week. It was a great tree.
The large branches provided shade for our yard and was the home for many a bird and squirrel. It’s lovely arms were draped with moss and around the base this year we had cherry tomato plants spring up.
So, why cut down such a beauty?
What looks beautiful on the outside is not always so on the inside.
The core of the trunk was diseased and rotten. This section is called the heart wood.
Upon further examination hidden under the moss was more infection and fungus.
We learned that if we had left this tree as is, the top 25 or so feet would have toppled over with a mere gust of wind. In fact the tree trimmer was amazed it had not done so already! Thank you, God, for keeping us safe!
Are you trying to cover up an inner spiritual “illness” with your own version of “moss” in hopes that no one notices?
Is your “heart wood” infected?
Is it time to remove that “moss” and work on what is making you spiritually sick?
Ask God to make you strong again and He will lead you in the way of living right with Him.
Remember…Philippians 4:13 tells us:
Christ gives us the strength to face anything.
