Where did this saying come from?
I’m not sure.
The Cambridge Idioms Dictionary defines it as:
“something which makes you believe that a difficult or unpleasant situation will end.”
“the end of a difficult period or job”
I love how the Urban Dictionary defines it…
“something that gives you hope for the future after a long and difficult period”
For me that hope is Christ.
Be happy in your hope.
Do not give up when trouble comes.
Do not let anything stop you from praying. Romans 12:12 (NLV)
Are you in the midst of a troubling situation?
Do not be discouraged. PRAY!!!
Years ago I was so very frustrated with the job I had. I could not understand why God still had me in the current work position. As I walked up the stairs, I prayed, “Lord, why, why, why am I still here? Why am I still in this mess?!!”
As I came to the 2nd floor landing a co-worker hugged me. I barely knew her and had no clue what her name was.
With tears in her eyes she exclaimed, “Thank you so much for praying with me for my daughter! She was in California using drugs and selling her body. Thank you. She has come home for help.”
I honestly did not remember praying with her for her daughter…but she did.
As she walked away, I thanked God for showing me why I was still there…that was the light at the end of my tunnel. God had a greater purpose for me!!
Are you wondering why you are still in the middle of the “mess” you find yourself?
Rely on the hope of Christ that He knows what is going on with your life and He has a plan…and maybe that plan is bigger and more important than you!!
