This is your Flight Attendant

“If you are seated next to an emergency exit, please read carefully the special instructions card located in your seat back pocket.  If you do not wish to perform the functions described in the event of an emergency, please ask a flight attendant to reseat you.”

The Flight Attendant then asked each of us sitting in the Emergency Exit Row if we agreed to the Emergency role and responsibilities.20130827-213140.jpg

After agreeing I told the man by the window he was in charge of opening the door if there was an emergency and I would be in charge of the screaming.

He laughed and then said, “Don’t worry, I will get us out of here.”

Then he proceeded to tell me of the emergency crash landing he was involved in 30 plus years ago.

No wonder he was sitting in the Emergency Row window seat!

He was prepared.

As Christians we also need to be prepared.

Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. (Ephesians 6:14-15 NIV)

Stand Firm – Have confidence in your faith…be strong and surefooted.

Belt of Truth – Be prepared…the Roman soldier’s belt carried a variety of weapons at the ready for battle.

Breastplate of Righteousness – Protected by the Holy Spirit.

Feet Fitted with Readiness – Have the Gospel of Christ direct your path.

Daily as Christians we need to be prepared for whatever arises. We are to stand strong in the readiness that only Christ can provide.

20130827-213158.jpgThe Flight Attendant instructed us to read the instructions located in our seat back pocket. God instructs us to read His manual…The Bible. Where is yours located? When was the last time you reviewed the instructions?

If it has been a while since you examined God’s Word…STOP what you are doing…

Blessings, Susan
