Walk in Love

Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God. Ephesians 5:1 (ESV)

My parents loved to go on vacation. Every trip, whether it was around the corner or across the country was a great adventure.

We always sang in the car; crazy songs, funny little ditties, good old ballads and beautiful gospels. Mom and Dad were in the choir at church, but Dad was the one that had the voice, a baritone.

Wherever we went Mom would call out the names of the various plants we drove pass. She amazed me. I’d make fun of her by yelling out, “Oh look a blade of grass!” Of course she’d laugh, she found humor in everything.

We lived around the corner from my best friend who my parents frequently included on our trips.. Fifty-five years later we’re still BFFs.

Today my friend loves to landscape her yard; choosing the right plant for the front walkway or a flowering plant for the backyard. I like to think that perhaps Mom had something to do with this passion.

I on the other hand could kill a silk plant. A gardener I am not!

But if you looked at the photos on my phone or camera you would see many are of plants and flowers. Even if the focus is a waterfall or river, if I can it will be taken through the leaves or blossoms of a nearby plant.

The roses below are from our yard…and no I had nothing to do with their success…I have my husband to thank for their doing so well!!

We may not be able to recite the names of every plant but each if us reflects my Mom in a different way. That is how it is with God.

We both love The Lord. This is reflected in my writings and love for teaching and leading Bible studies. My friend’s wise godly counsel and compassion for others mirror Christ.

How are you reflecting Christ in your life today?

Blessings, Susan
