Peering over the rails

Once a man would spend a week patiently waiting if he missed a stage coach, but now he rages if he misses the first section of a revolving door.
- Simeon Strunsky

Last year we took our grandchildren to the circus. Our seats were right next to the performers’ entrance and exit.

The kids were thrilled to be able to peek over the railing and see what was coming next.

Seeing the elephants lined up in a row, tigers in cages or the clowns getting into their car made the kids feel like they had the inside track to the production.

We learned that many of the performers participated in a variety of different acts.

Don’t you sometimes wish that you had that same inside track with your life? I certainly do!!

Currently I am in the waiting room. Not an actual room, but in that time and space of waiting for an answer.

How I would love to be able to peer over the railing and see what is coming next! But life does not work that way.

Steven Wright said, I took a course in speed waiting. Now I can wait an hour in only ten minutes.

HA! Don’t you love it?! If only that was possible!

Isaiah 40:31 says: But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. (KJV)

Well, with all this waiting, my strength must be great and I will surely be flying high…hopefully with the eagles and not with the buzzards. (ha, ha)

God knows that waiting is hard for us. Waiting is referenced at least 129 in the Bible.

I found many encouraging verses. Psalm 130:5 especially spoke to me. I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits, and in His Word I put my hope.

That says it all. My WHOLE being is waiting.

Are you in a waiting room? Put your hope in God. I have!

Blessings, Susan
