Bounce Spells???

BOUNCE. BOUNCE. The ball pounding on the cement and hitting the backboard. Kids chatting with their friends, laughing, and having fun from my perspective.

BOUNCE. BOUNCE. The ball pounding on the cement and hitting the backboard. Kids yelling, annoying, and disruptive from our neighbor’s perspective.

BOUNCE. BOUNCE. What does that sound say to you?

BOUNCE. BOUNCE. What does that spell to you?

We have a lovely family that moved into our community about a year ago. Their boys enjoy to play ball out front in their driveway and in our street, as we have little to no traffic in our area.

Recently while I was out on a walk another neighbor said the activity in the street was bothersome at times.20130708-193349.jpg

As we spoke I was reminded of our kids growing up. Our 2 boys played either basketball in our driveway or baseball in the street all the time. We too had a neighbor that was annoyed by their “play” in the front yard…it was noisy.

Balancing the annoyance level to our neighbors and allowing our boys to play was always a challenge for my husband and myself. BUT…Knowing where our boys were and who they were with was very important to us.

As we all live together let’s be sensitive to our neighbors. Remember what it was like to be a child…what a parent’s concern is for knowing where their child is…what it is like to be an elderly neighbor…what it is like to be someone that works at night and sleeps during the day.

Whether it’s the neighborhood, church, work, family relationships…Look at the situation from both sides.  Take a breath…be respectful…work together for a solution.

For me, BOUNCE, BOUNCE sounds like love…but remember, it may not sound like love to another…BE RESPECTFUL.

20130708-193358.jpgHow did Jesus answer when asked, “Of all the commandments, which is the most important?”

“The most important one,” answered Jesus, “is this: ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’The second is this:

‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’

There is no commandment greater than these.” Mark 12:28-31 (NIV)

BOUNCE. BOUNCE. What does this spell? LOVE…have it spell love from all perspectives!

Blessings, Susan
