Life can sometimes make me feel like I’m backed into a corner, especially when I take my eyes off of God.
Therefore encourage one another with these words. (1 Thessalonians 4:18 NIV)
Early yesterday morning my dear friend called me knowing that I felt this way. She had just finished praying for me during her devotions.
What was so amazing was when she read to me her devotion for the day, it was as if the words were written just for me!
And now that corner started to look different.
“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.
(John 15:5 NIV)
In my corner was The Vine…Christ, and the branches..,my friends who were lifting me up. Christ had me covered…HOW?…in the form of a friend.
I want to thank the many “branches” that have stood with me and encouraged me when I am backed into a corner.
Now just 24 hours later I have the opportunity to be there for her. And I ask you to join me in prayer for her health.
You see my dear friend is having a surgical consult this morning for a fairly significant growth on her face.
So I ask you to lift my friend up in prayer.
“I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener.”
(John 15:1 NIV)
Christian friendship…it is a privilege!!
Notice I never said the corner was gone. The challenge still remains, but it’s easier facing this situating with my eyes on Him.
Thank you, Lord, for being in my corner and for the branches in my life that encourage me.
Let us not forget to encourage one another while we help them focus on Him.
EDITED: 5/22/13 (I rushed to get this out earlier as it was so important to get others across the world to pray for my friend. There were several spelling errors and more rambling than usual. Thanks for understanding.)
