Virginia Travel Photos
Last fall we drove down Virginia’s Skyline Drive in Shenandoah National Park.
It was wonderful! We loved the fall foliage…how it painted the mountainsides with beautiful vibrant colors.
We were also so excited about the possibility of seeing a variety of animals…we had read we’d see white-tailed deer, wild turkey, black bear, and “a host of other woodland animals.”
Imagine the thrill when 3 seconds after we entered the drive a white-tailed deer ran in front of our car!
“This is going to be amazing!” we cried. We were so excited!
As we drove the 105 miles at 35 mph I believe we saw 2 squirrels, but I may be exaggerating. I think it was just one!
Yes, we were disappointed but the scenic drive well made up for the lack of animals. And the Luray Caves were spectacular.
The park was filled with people and I am sure the creatures (big and small) were hiding from all of us. Wade and I jokingly said that the park had a robotic deer that they had run across the road to make us want to see more!
I’d recommend this drive ~ it was beautiful. This fall we are planning on going to Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan…if you have any scenic drive suggestions for these 2 places we’d love to hear from you.
Also for all of you photo experts…I am new at displaying photos…which is best? Slideshow – which is at the top of this post, inserted individually – such as the cave photo in the middle of this post, Gallery – at the bottom of this post?
