Anguish Traded for Joy

What a blessing tonight was!

I was invited to attend a Beth Moore Bible Study tonight. About 20 women were in attendance. It was such a joy to share the Word of God with these ladies. I only knew 2 of them but that didn’t matter. When I am with other Christians it does not take long to feel at home.

The study is on the book of James. This week’s study revolved around how we are coping, managing, dealing with, etc. the current trial in our life.

I was amazed…I could not think of a current trial!! I am not sure if I have ever been in that position before!

Certainly I have some sort of trial going on right now I thought.

But all I could think of was how thankful I was to be feeling better, having a wonderful husband, amazing children and ever more amazing grandchildren, a great job, a house I love, friends…Thankful is where I am.

Now I know that I am on the otherside of a trial and that in the future I will be in the midst of another trial…but I am basking in the blessing of where I am now. What joy!

BUT…I know that I need this study as in the future I want to be able to turn my anguish to joy. I don’t know what is ahead of me that will cause me pain and anguish, but I know that through Christ joy will be possible.

John 16 says You will grieve, but your grief will turn to joy… Now is your time of grief, but I will see you again and you will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy…Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete.

Are you in the midst of a trial?

John 16 also says A woman giving birth to a child has pain because her time has come; but when her baby is born she forgets the anguish because of her joy that a child is born into the world.

Ask God to trade your anguish for joy.

As for me, I call to God,
and the LORD saves me.
Evening, morning and noon
I cry out in distress,
and He hears my voice.

Psalm 55: 16, 17

God hears your cries.

Cast your cares on the LORD
and he will sustain you;
He will never let
the righteous be shaken.

Psalm 55: 22

And when you are in such pain that you can no longer pray…allow your brothers and sisters in Christ to pray for you…God WILL see you THROUGH!!!

Blessings, Susan
