“If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to save us from it, and He will rescue us from your hand, O king.” Daniel 3:17
Standing at the water’s edge my heart pounded. With his arms lifted up, Dad said, “Jump, Honey, jump. I’ll catch you.”
My parents had just built a pool. I was in second grade. On vacations I had learned to paddle, but never had I jumped in and swam. As I jumped into the water, it never occurred to me that my Father would not be strong enough to catch me or that he would swim away and leave me floundering.
Although my heart pounded, I knew he was not only able to catch me, he would catch me.
With great confidence in him, I jumped, sliding into his strong arms. Dad carried me through the waters to safety.
King Nebuchadnezzar was furious with rage that Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego would not bow down and worship the golden image he had made. He told them if they did not bow down and worship, they would be thrown into a blazing furnace.
They responded, “If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to save us from it, and He will rescue us from your hand, O king.” They knew their God not only had the power to rescue them, He would rescue them. Just like my Dad.
“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.” Isaiah 43:2
What fire or troubled waters are you passing through?
Know that our God is big enough for whatever problem you or your family is experiencing. Please know that I do not say this lightly. In this day and age, families are facing horrific challenges.
From the great chapter of Faith…Hebrews 11.
1 Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see. 2 Through their faith, the people in days of old earned a good reputation.
3 By faith we understand that the entire universe was formed at God’s command, that what we now see did not come from anything that can be seen.
