I started to have self doubts today about my blog. I started to think am I really going to make a difference, will others even want to return and continue to read it. “I” “I” “I”
“I” saw a pattern. It is not all about me. So what if not another person reads this blog. That was not the reason I chose to write it in the first place, it was for a closer relationship with God; to see Him in the everyday things of life. AND if by the grace of God, someone else is benefited by some of my words, great. If not, that is okay too.
But for right now, it is between Him and me. I need to be more acutely aware of how God is working in my life and then He can use me to bring others closer to Him. Now even though that may still sound like it is about me, I don’t mean it to be. It is about Christ. If my relationship with Christ is stronger and more intimate the end result should be that others will be drawn to Him…not to me, but to Him. That should be my ultimate goal.
Psalm 1 speaks of how a person that meditates on the Word day and night is like a tree firmly planted by streams of water – that such a tree would produce fruit. I want to be like this tree.
If a tree is to be able to stand tall and firm next to a stream of water, it must have a deep root system. If the roots are shallow, the tree may not be able to withstand strong winds and it may topple. A deep root feeds and anchors the tree.
Are my roots feeding on the right nutrients? Are they drinking in the Word? Am I storing up in my mind and heart heavenly things? Or are my roots shallow and unable to be anchored? Most importantly, am I bearing fruit?
The only way any of us can develop and maintain a relationship rooted in Christ that bears fruit is to mediate on His Word, day and night; that is where I want to be.
How blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked,
Nor stand in the path of sinners,
Nor sit in the seat of scoffers!
2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD,
And in His law he meditates day and night.
3 He will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water,
Which yields its fruit in its season
And its leaf does not wither;
And in whatever he does, he prospers.
So … back to the blog…if someone is reading this, great…but if not, that is great too. This blog is serving its purpose – I am finding a new hunger for the things of Christ and wanting to see Him in all situations. Yes, I do hope that others will become a part of this, especially the Prayer Requests Page, but I am leaving all of that up to God.
For now, my prayer is that I grow in Christ …the rest will come…others will be drawn to Him…just in His time and in His way; not mine.
